ADULT SERVICES CAFE offers individualized community based day programs to adults served by DHHS. Every person we serve participates in activities and endeavors out in the community each day. Not only do we support people in getting out into the community, our goal is to help people be part of it. We operate no center based programs; consumers spend their days accessing the vast resources of the Greater Portland area. Day Program This program serves adults Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Folks venture out into the commmunity for the activities of their choice, while focusing on: Physical Development Motor Skills Home & Community Safety Skills Self, Social & Environmental Awareness Self-Care Communication Skills Community Resources Social Development Sensory Stimulation Learning & Problem Solving Behavior Management Self Motivation Outreach Services As a general rule, Outreach is support we provide outside the 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM timeframe of the Day Program (evenings, weekends, etc.) Our Outreach Program provides one-on-one staffing to consumers. In these cases, consumers are usually picked up at their home and then taken out for their choice of community endeavors. This model provides greater flexibility and self-designed services based upon the individual’s wishes, wants and desires.
